About Me

"When I look into the eyes of an animal, I do not see an animal.
I see a living being. I see a friend. I feel a soul."
~A.D. Williams

I am a designer, photographer, writer, & fur mom

Some of my best and most memorable experiences in life have been those that were shared with animals. I was born and raised in small town Spokane, Washington and introduced to animals through my mother’s love of all creatures.

Things were a little unconventional growing up at my house. We did not live on a farm. However, somehow my mother managed to get our family a rooster, some ducks, rabbits,  and cats. We also had a beloved goose named Charlie and Dachshund dog named Dutch. What a fun time that was for a kid! Unfortunately, the neighbors didn’t agree about the rooster…something about him making noise at 5am?

Charlie the goose and Dutch the Dachshund were really great pals. Charlie would follow Dutch everywhere, including sunbathing in the middle of the street. I remember cars would stop and honk to get them to move. But Charlie and Dutch were stubborn and would dismiss the honks.  They were far too busy basking  in the sun. I’m not sure where my parents were during all of this and I was way too young to realize the inappropriateness, not to mention danger of of it all. But for a kid, it sure made for some fun and entertaining times!

In addition to my love of photography, I am also a classically trained dancer. I fell in love with ballet at what was considered a bit late in life…a whopping 9 years old! But I was disciplined, determined and I worked hard. It was my passion. Fresh out of high school, I began to pursue a career in dance. And in order to support my craft,  my first job was working with our  local photography studio.

So this is how life began for me, with my love of the arts, animals and photography. I currently reside in Los Angeles with my two fur children where I enjoying sharing the gift of movement with others as a Pilates and Yoga instructor. I still dance. I design. I do photography. I travel and I cook. The word “kawaii” is an homage to my Japanese heritage. Pronounced like “Hawaii”- but with a “K”, it is a playful reference  to all things cute in Japanese culture. Thank you for coming to visit me and all the kawaii creatures that have touched my heart.
